(ALLIANCE, Ohio) - Tied 5-5 at halftime, the Quakers could not overcome the Purple Raiders' second half attack, falling 17-10 on the road Saturday afternoon.
Wilmington's attack came in firing off their four straight wins, scoring three goals early. Danny Fitzpatrick scored just three minutes in. Less than 30 seconds later, Nick Roca added one, putting Wilmington ahead 2-0 not even three minutes into the contest. Not even two minutes later, Roca tacked on a second goal to send the Quakers up 3-0. Mount Union got on the board with just two minutes left, trailing 3-1 heading into the second quarter.
Danny Fitzpatrick scored his second goal three minutes into the second quarter, assisted by Tyler Cunningham. Garrett Reigelsperger got on the board with an assist from Brandon Osborne, extending Wilmington's lead 5-1. The Purple Raiders offense woke up, scoring four straight goals to end the half tied 5-5.
Mount Union extended their 4-0 run, scoring four more goals to lead 8-5 halfway through the third quarter. Roca scored to freeze the Purple Raiders' run, but the hosts added two more to lead 10-6 going into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter included some fireworks, but Mount Union scored seven goals. Brandon Osborne and KJ Davis each scored once, and Reigelsperger tacked on two more goals, but the Purple Raiders attack fueled the hosts' 17-10 win.
