(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - Leading 8-6 at halftime, Wilmington dominated the second half to take down Franciscan University 15-9 on Saturday afternoon.
The Barons scored the first goal of the game with 7:20 left in the first quarter. Nick Roca snapped off two straight goals in under a minute to give the Quakers a 2-1 lead. Franciscan tied the game a minute later and then scored twice with under a minute left to go up 4-2. Brandon Osborne scored with just eight seconds remaining to cut the deficit to one.
Wilmington started the second period hot, with Osborne and Dawson Fitzpatrick scoring twice to take a 5-4 lead. The Barons tied the score 5-5 not even a minute later. Roca scored back-to-back goals, assisted by Dawson Fitzpatrick and Sam Snyder. Franciscan got one back with under 30 seconds, but KJ Davis scored with just three seconds to go, extending Wilmington's lead to 8-6.
Dawson Fitzpatrick opened the third quarter with a goal, followed by two more from Davis, one of which Fitzpatrick assisted him. Leading 11-6, the Barons scored two straight goals, cutting the deficit to 11-8.
Tyler Cunningham scored a great goal to open the fourth quarter for Wilmington. Franciscan scored one more goal to make it 12-9 before the duo of Davis and Fitzpatrick rattled off three more goals to clinch the 15-9 win for the Quakers.
