Baseball Falls at Home Thursday Afternoon to Franklin College

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College baseball team lost their midweek contest to the Franklin College Grizzlies Thursday afternoon at Tewksbury-Delaney Field, 13-2.

Both teams traded a run in the first inning, with Franklin scoring on a double before Dominic Depa roped a ball over the right center field fence for the 1-1 tie.

A walk and hit by pitch doomed the Quakers in the second inning, allowing for a two out single up the middle and a 3-1 Grizzlies lead. Wilmington had a runner at third in the bottom of the fifth, but a double play ended the frame.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Quakers scored their final run on a Bobby Fleming single to right center field to bring in Max Gildea, who singled to start off the inning. Wilmington had a chance to do some damage in the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and no outs. However, a pair of strikeouts and a ground out ended the game.
