Men's Basketball Clawed by Ohio Northern Wednesday Night at Home

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team battled the Ohio Northern Polar Bears down to the wire Wednesday night in Hermann Court but dropped the game 78-70. The game was tied late in the second half, with 5:10 to play, but the Polar Bears ended the game on a 13-5 run to win the contest.

The Polar Bears held a 20-11 lead in the first and increased their lead to as many as 12 points over the first 20 minutes of play. Despite the half being controlled by Ohio Northern, Wilmington hung tough and ended on an 8-3 run to go down 40-37 at the break. Domenic Farley scored seven of the Quakers eight points during this stretch of action.

Wilmington started the second half on a 9-5 flurry to take a one-point lead at 46-45 with 16:37 remaining. Ben Golan had four points to fuel the run.

The Quakers fell down by nine points on a few occasions during the half, but Wilmington fought back to the aforementioned 65-65 score, using a 9-0 run to get there. Farley had five points during this stretch. Wilmington trailed by three with just over three minutes to play but couldn't complete the comeback in the loss.

  • Senior Domenic Farley recorded his fifth game this season with 22 or more points for the game high, going 8-16 from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line.
  • Sophomore Matt DeBrosse added 12 points for Wilmington.
  • Elijah Cathey had a team high five rebounds.
  • Izaiah Cathey and Farley tied for the team lead with two assists while two Quakers had two blocks and three players had two steals.

What's Up Next
