(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - Early surge lifts Albion College past Wilmington College, 17-8 on Saturday afternoon.
The visiting Britons of Albion College got on the board first, scoring in under two minutes to open the game. Less than a minute later, goalkeeper Skoebie Atkinson took advantage of Albion's 10-man ride and launched a full-field heave, finding the back of the net. Atkinson's goal tied the game 1-1 in just three minutes into the first period.
The Britons went on to score two straight goals until Nick Roca brought the deficit within one with 7:33 to go. Albion closed the first period with two more goals, leading 5-2 heading into the second period. The visitor's scoring run continued, adding three more to their 5-0 run. Garrett Reigelsperger scored with 6:03 remaining in the second period as the Quakers trailed 8-3. Albion closed the first half on a 4-0 scoring run, taking a 12-3 lead into the break.
Brandon Osborne scored his first collegiate goal six minutes into the third period. Danny Fitzpatrick went back-to-back with Osborne putting Wilmington down 14-5. Albion extended their lead to 17-5 with a running clock in the fourth period. The green and white closed the game scoring three straight goals. Danny Fitzpatrick found the back of the net assisted by Manny Castillo. Castillo followed up with a goal of his own. The duo of Danny and Dawson Fitzpatrick combined for the final goal, with Danny scoring his sixth of the season as Wilmington fell 17-8.
