Lacrosse Wins First Game of the Season in Rain Shortened Contest at Bethany

(BETHANY, W.Va.) – The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team won their first game of the season Saturday afternoon in a rain shortened game at Bethany College.

The Quakers were leading 8-2 with 3:58 remaining in the third quarter, before the rain became too much and delayed the game before eventually suspending it and giving Wilmington the victory. This is head coach Brian Kingsbury's first win at Wilmington College.

Garrett Reigelsperger got Wilmington on the board just over a minute into the contest for a 1-0 lead off an assist from Dawson Fitzpatrick. Danny Fitzpatrick followed with two unassisted strikes. Nick Roca scored late in the first quarter off a pass from Manny Castillo for a 4-1 Quakers lead after 15 minutes of action.

Roca and Reigelsperger scored again in the second quarter to help Wilmington to a 6-2 halftime lead. Danny Fitzpatrick scored his third goal of the game in the third quarter before KJ Davis scored the first goal of his Quakers career for an 8-2 advantage before the suspension of the contest.
