(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team traveled to Capital University tonight to take on the Comets, where they bested them 101-93 for the season sweep. They improve their overall record to 8-11 and are 4-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).
Wilmington rolled out to a 16-9 lead in the contest over the first seven minutes of play. Six points from junior
Ben Golan fueled the Quakers rally. They continued to hold a steady lead in the half before the Comets tied the game at 28-28. Seven points from Cade Davies got Capital back into the game.
The Comets clawed their way to lead by as many as nine points, 47-38, before giving up a quick 6-0 run from the Quakers for a 47-44 halftime lead.

Domenic Farley hit threes at the end of the half to keep Wilmington in the game.
The Quakers continued to cut into the lead early in the second half, tying the game at 49-49 just a minute and a half in. Wilmington poured it on the Comets in the second half, taking as big as a 16-point lead at 88-72 with 5:40 to play. Capital cut the lead to seven points over the final minutes of play, but the Quakers came away with a 101-93 win.
Notables
- This is Wilmington's first conference game scoring over 100 points since a 104-75 drubbing of Otterbein University on January 9th, 2019. This is their third game over 100 points this season.
- For the third game in a row, Wilmington had five players score 10 or more points, being led by Elijah Cathey's 27. This ties Cathey's career high from their earlier contest this season at Adrian College on Dec. 17.
- Ben Golan continued his solid play of late with 18 points, while Izaiah Cathey and Domenic Farley had 16 and Gabe Green added 10.
- Elijah Cathey also led the team with eight rebounds and five assists. He was also one of three Quakers with one block and one of seven players with a steal.
- Wilmington set new season highs, shooting 55.2% from the field (37-67) and 50% (11-22) from beyond the arc.
- The Quakers knocked down 16-21 free throws, while the Comets struggled at the line, going 10-21.
