(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team lost to the Otterbein University Cardinals Wednesday night at home, 84-74. After trailing by 12 at halftime, the Quakers stormed back in the second half and held a lead with under 10 minutes to play, before Otterbein grabbed it back and won the game.
Wilmington took a quick five-point 14-9 lead within the first seven minutes of play, as Otterbein got off to a cold start from the field.
Gabe Green had five points to lead the Quakers during this stretch.
The two teams were knotted up at 21-21 before the Cardinals used a 12-2 run for a 33-23 advantage with just over six minutes to play in the half. Their lead grew to as many as 14, before taking a 45-33 lead into the locker room.
Wilmington stormed out to a 9-0 flurry to start the second half and cut the lead to three at 45-42.
Elijah Cathey had four points during the run while
Domenic Farley added three. The Cardinals calmed down and held an eight point lead, before a 14-4 Quakers rally occurred and tied the game at 54-54. This was fueled by seven
Matt DeBrosse points.
The Quakers held a lead as late as 9:59 to play in the game at 59-58. However, an 18-6 Otterbein run followed, sealing the game for the Cardinals, as they eventually won 84-74.

- Five Quakers scored in double digits, with Matt DeBrosse leading the way with a career high 20 points.
- Wilmington blocked 12 shots in the game, as junior Ben Golan tied for second in program history for single game blocks with six.
- The Quakers also recorded 10 steals, being led by Farley's three.
- Farley, and the Cathey brothers of Elijah Cathey and Izaiah Cathey tied for the team lead with six rebounds each.
- Elijah and Golan tied for the team high with three assists apiece.
