Men's Basketball Drops High Scoring Game at Muskingum Wednesday Night

(NEW CONCORD, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team lost a road contest to the Muskingum University Fighting Muskies Wednesday night, 113-90. This is the Quakers sixth game this season scoring 90 or more points as they slip to 7-8 overall and 3-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).

The Quakers jumped out to a quick eight-point lead less than four minutes into the game at 12-4. Izaiah Cathey provided seven of the 12 points for Wilmington. A 20-6 run followed for the Muskies, giving them a 24-18 lead with 10:12 to play in the first half.

Muskingum held a steady lead throughout the remainder of the half, leading by as many as 10, before holding a 49-40 advantage at the break. Izaiah Cathey and Gabe Green led the charge with 10 points each after the first 20 minutes of action.

Wilmington cut the lead to four with a slight 14-9 run to start the second half and make the score 58-54. After the 14:29 mark in the half, Muskingum never led by less than double digit points in their win.

Notables
  • Izaiah Cathey had a career high 23 points while Elijah Cathey and Gabe Green added 15 apiece. Domenic Farley and Matt DeBrosse also scored double digit points with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
  • Elijah Cathey tied for the game high with nine rebounds and had a game high two blocks, while Farley dished out a game high six assists.
  • Six Quakers had one steal.
  • The Quakers shot 52.78% from the field in the second half and 47.9% in the game.

The Quakers travel to Berea, Ohio to battle the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 P.M.
