(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team lost to the undefeated and No. 5 ranked University of Mount Union Purple Raiders in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play today, 84-77.
The Quakers struggled in the first half, falling behind by 16 at the break. They stormed back in the second, outscoring Mount Union by nine points, but it wasn't enough. They drop to 7-7 overall this season and 3-2 in the OAC.
Mount Union jumped out to a quick 19-11 lead over the first eight minutes of the first half and continued to increase their lead. They held a 43-27 advantage heading into the locker room.
The Purple Raiders led by as many as 24 at 70-46 with 8:39 to play in the game, but the Quakers wouldn't go down without a fight.
They used a 21-5 run to cut the lead to eight points and give themselves a chance with 2:04 remaining.
Izaiah Cathey had nine points during this rally while
Zach McGuirt added seven. Mount Union hung for the win.
