Quakers Shutout Spalding for First Win of 2025

(WILMINGTON, Oh.) - After a strong first half, the Quakers earned their first win of the season over Spalding University on Wednesday night. Wilmington won 2-0 after a penalty kick scored by Jordan Snyder in the second half, and Alex Wilson, who added on just about ten minutes later.

In the first half, both the Golden Eagles and Quakers alternated offensive possessions. Wilmington's MJ Little had two threatening shots, one saved by Spalding's Kaylee Warden and one just above the woodwork. Alex Wilson also pressured Warden but was unable to find the back of the net in the first half. Golden Eagles' forward Emma Livingston took multiple shots as the half winded down, but Emma Storck was able to stifle their attack.

The Quakers' attack came firing out of the second half as Wilson took two shots, but to no avail. Wilmington broke through in the 59th minute after Wilson drew a penalty kick. Jordan Snyder stepped up to take the kick and placed it in the back of the bottom left corner, giving Wilmington a 1-0 advantage.

Not even ten full minutes later, Wilson dribbled through contact and was able to get a shot off with her left foot and found the bottom right corner, pushing the Quakers up two in the 69th minute. Despite a late effort by Spalding, the Quakers shut out the Golden Eagles 2-0.
