Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hanover Scores Late to Hand Men's Soccer Their First Loss of the Season

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's soccer team struggled in the second half of today's game with the Hanover College Panthers. They allowed three goals in the half and lost their lead and eventually the game, 4-3.

It was all Quakers early on as they went up 3-0 within the first 40 minutes of play. Off a corner kick from junior Jace Houck, it bounced off a defender and came right back to Houck, who sent the ball flying through several players and into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The next goal came on a beautiful free kick from senior Kaden Young into the box where the ball met the head of freshman Brayden Spencer and went in for a 2-0 advantage. The final goal for the Quakers came from Logan Kent. Eli Eyrich dribbled up the right side of the field and drew the keeper out of the goal, before finding a waiting Kent right in front of the net for a 3-0 lead.

The rain came after this and caused a lengthy delay. Out of the break, Hanover was firing on all cylinders. They took advantage of a few Wilmington mistakes to give them two goals and cut the lead to one at 3-2. The equalizer came in the 61st minute before the game-winner for the Panthers was in the 81st minute of play.
