(HANOVER, IN) - Wilmington won the third set, but fell to Hanover in four sets on Wednesday night.
The Quakers were tied with the Panthers early in the first set, but Hanover went on a 10-0 run, giving them a 13-3 lead. Wilmington was unable to overcome the deficit, as the Panthers went on to secure the first set 25-7.
Down 6-1 early in the second set, the Quakers were able to cut the Panthers' lead to just one as they trailed 9-8. Once more, Hanover was able to run away with the lead up six 19-13. Wilmington closed the lead to five multiple times, but the Panthers closed out the second set, winning 25-16.
Wilmington found themselves down by five early in the third set. The Quakers rallied and outscored the Panthers 11-2 during a run to give them a 14-10 lead about halfway through. Wilmington's run was sparked by service aces from Emma Specht and Logan McQuillin. Ally Truman and Brinlee Preston each had a block, and Jobey Hattan and Magee Fain collected kills as well.
Both teams went back and forth heading into the final five points of the set. Wilmington held a 21-20 lead late and was able to secure the third set, winning 25-21. Â
The fourth set did not go Wilmington's way. The Quakers kept it close until the Panthers pushed away, taking a 9-19 lead. Hanover was able to finish the final set, winning the match 25-14 in four sets.

What's Up Next
The Quakers will travel to Franklin College to participate in the Franklin Invitational. Their first match is on Friday, September 19, at 6:00 pm. Wilmington will play four total matches in the tournament, playing Kalamazoo College later Friday night. The Quakers will turn around and face Wheaton College (Ill.) at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 20, at 10:00 am and Kuyper College afterwards at 2:00 pm.
