Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Burke Scores Two in Shutout Win at Bluffton

(BLUFFTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's soccer team battled the Bluffton University Beavers for the first time since 1999, when the Quakers were a member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC).

Wilmington took their first match in 26 years, 2-0 over the Beavers, thanks to a pair of goals from sophomore Parker Burke. The Quakers improve to 5-0-1 overall this season.

Burke's first tally of the contest came in the 21st minute. Junior Jase Edmonson put the ball in perfect position for Burke, who made some nice moves around a pair of Beavers before striking the ball past the keeper with his left foot for a 1-0 lead.

It didn't take long for him to score again. A Bluffton foul in the 22nd minute gave Wilmington the ball where Edmonson found William Jansson at midfield. Jansson chipped the ball right over the defense to a waiting Burke, who took a left footed shot right past the keeper in a one-on-one opportunity for a 2-0 lead. The Quakers forced four more Bluffton saves in the second half but couldn't find another tally in their victory.
