Wilson Scores Late to Defeat Adrian College

(WILMINGTON, Oh.) - The Quakers led 2-1 coming out of half, but the Bulldogs equalized late in the second half. With just under 11 minutes left, Alex Wilson found the back of the net, giving Wilmington a 3-2 lead as they held on to defeat Adrian.

The Bulldogs were on the attack early in the opening five minutes of the first half. Emma Storck secured a save, and Wilmington transitioned to offense. In the 9th minute, a dangerous ball was played into the box and Adrian conceded an own goal, giving Wilmington a 1-0 lead.

Both teams alternated attacks until the 23rd minute when MJ Little took an outstanding shot from the right corner 20 yards out and it sailed into the back of the net pushing the Quakers up 2-0. Adrian responded late in the 42nd minute as the half finished with Wilmington leading 2-1

Yet again both teams traded offensive possessions throughout the second half. The Bulldogs broke through and tied it 2-2 in the 74th minute after a well-placed shot by Annamarie Fosmoen. In the 79th minute, Olivia Malicoat played a lofted through ball to Alex Wilson, who corralled the pass and dribbled into the box, perfectly placing her shot in the bottom corner. Wilmington held onto the lead in the final 10 minutes to win 3-2 over Adrian.
