Football Struggles in Second Half in Loss at Baldwin Wallace

(BEREA, Ohio) – The Wilmington College football team traveled to Baldwin Wallace University Saturday afternoon for their first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) game of the season. They played a solid first half, trailing just 28-14 at the break. Wilmington struggled in the second half en route to a 63-21 defeat.

It was the Kai Smith show for the Quakers in the first half. He scored on a 15-yard pass from senior Isaac Ross for their first score of the game. Early in the second quarter, Smith took a kickoff 100 yards to the house and cut the Yellow Jackets lead down to 21-14.

Wilmington's next time in Yellow Jackets territory came in the third quarter, but a Baldwin Wallace interception ended the drive with no points for the Quakers.

The Quakers final touchdown of the game came early in the fourth quarter. Starting at their own 25-yard line, Ross found Smith and De'Anta Sanon for a total of 44 yards to get to the Yellow Jackets 31. Down to a fourth down, Ross found Sanon for 34 yards and a Quakers touchdown.
