Quakers Unable to Hold Off Muskingum

(New Concord, OH) - The Wilmington College Quakers traveled to face the Muskingum University Fighting Muskies on Saturday afternoon for their second Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) game of the year. It was an offensive shootout as the Quakers trailed 35-27 at halftime. Wilmington took a 49-42 in the second half but the Muskies came back to win 56-49.
 

Down 7-0, the Quakers responded with a 31-yard touchdown pass from Isaac Ross to De'Anta Sanon. The Muskies scored two straight touchdowns to take a 21-7 lead. Kai Smith had a 54-yard touchdown run to pull the Quakers within a possession. Muskingum scored another touchdown to take a 28-14 lead until De'Anta Sanon caught a 76-yard touchdown pass. The Muskies scored their fifth touchdown of the half, but Wilmington scored on a 1-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Barth, closing the half down 35-27. 

The Muskies scored first to open the half, extending their lead to 42-27. Wilmington bounced back and scored three straight touchdowns to take the lead. De'Anta Sanon caught his third touchdown of the day on a 35-yard pass and then Logan Lovins scored back-to-back touchdowns of 3 yards and 29 yards, all from Isaac Ross. Trailing 49-42, Muskingum tied the game on a 22-yard touchdown pass. The Muskies took the lead on a 29-yard touchdown pass to lead 56-49 late in the second half. 
 

The Quakers had a possession with less than a minute to go to, but were unable to score, losing 56-49 Saturday afternoon.

 

Notables

  • Isaac Ross threw for 356 yards, going 24-37 and threw for six touchdowns with one interception. He added 54 yards on the ground too.

  • Kai Smith led the Quakers with 129 yards on 12 carries and one touchdown, with a longest rush of 54 yards. He also caught five receptions for 88 yards.

  • De'Anta Sanon had a career day, hauling in 10 catches for 190 yards with three touchdowns.

  • Logan Lovins secured two catches for two touchdowns and 32 yards.

  • Tyler Barth had one catch of one yard for one touchdown.

  • Gavan Hunter had eight tackles (six solo, two assists) and two tackles for loss.

  • Luke Wroten had six tackles (four solo, two assists) and two tackles for loss.

  • Jordan Fitzpatrick recorded one interception for 17 yards.

  • The Quakers gained 516 total yards on offense.
