(DANVILLE, Ky.) - The Quakers dropped their season opener Friday afternoon against 2024 NCAA National Quarterfinalist, Washington & Lee University, 3-0 (12-25, 17-25, 11-25).
In the opening set the Generals held a one-point lead, 4-3 against the Quakers until breaking out in a 7-0 run to go ahead 10-3. Washington & Lee stayed hot offensively and closed out the set 25-12.
The Quakers jumped ahead early, leading 3-0 in the second set, but Washington & Lee was too strong. Both teams were tied 5-5 until the Generals pulled away, eventually winning 25-17.
The third and final set was competitive until the Generals once again climbed out ahead, ending the set winning 25-11.
Sarah Brown led the team with 8 kills, while Emelia Mohler followed with 7 kills. Kyra Frasier led the Quakers with 12 assists, and Emma Specht had nine. Logan McQuillin had 13 digs.
What's Up Next
The Quakers have a doubleheader tomorrow to end the Colonel Invitational. Wilmington will play the host Centre College at 5:00 PM before facing Asbury University (Ky.) at 7:30 PM.
