Quakers Draw With Yeowomen in Season Opener

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - In Wilmington College's season opener, the Quakers tied with the Oberlin College Yeowomen 1-1. The Quakers trailed early in the 2nd minute of the first half, but MJ Little crossed a stunning ball into the box, and Jordan Snyder headed it home in the 59th minute to bring the game level.

Oberlin jumped ahead early on a goal placed in the bottom corner by Zoey Edmiaston, assisted by Jemma Freestone in the 2nd minute. Down early, the Quakers got comfortable, and the game slowed down for each team in the rest of the first half. Wilmington threatened around the 30th minute mark drawing back-to-back corner kicks, but the Quakers were unable to draw even as the half closed.

The Quakers came firing out in the second half, threatening the Yeowomen defense. Alex Wilson took a shot on net in the 49th minute but Goalkeeper Roam Redington made a save, pushing the ball out for a corner kick. Oberlin countered and earned two corner kicks in the following minutes but failed to score. On transition, MJ Little made a break up the left wing and crossed a perfect ball into Snyder who headed it home for the Quakers.

Following Snyder's goal, the game once again slowed down and neither team was able to create a threat, finishing the game 1-1.
