(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College athletics department announced Jalen Goodwin as the new Director of the Quaker Recreation Center.

"We're excited to have Jalen join the Athletics department and play a key role in upgrading our facility usage and scheduling," said Director of Athletics Matt Croci. "He brings a strong athletic background in coaching and managing facilities, staff, and scheduling. He will also make an impact in developing new programs for students, staff, and the community."

Goodwin comes from a men's basketball coaching background. He played collegiately at NCAA Division III institution, The College of Wooster from 2011-2015 before taking his first coaching job at the University of Northwestern Ohio in the summer of 2015, where he spent a season as the Racers Assistant Coach and Junior Varsity Head Coach.

He then moved on to Otterbein University in 2016 and was a Graduate Assistant Coach with the Cardinals for two seasons. He worked the following six years at both Oberlin College (four seasons) and Mount St. Joseph University (two seasons) as an Assistant Coach, where he created scouting reports, organized travel plans, performed game management and administrative duties, among other things.

Goodwin then stepped away from collegiate coaching to work as the Director of Youth Basketball at the Ronnie Grandison Sports Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio for the last year. While here, he not only coached youth basketball, which included developmental leagues and summer camps, but he helped keep the facility running. He had daily operational duties for the facility, which included gym setup and facility monitoring for volleyball, basketball, and pickleball leagues and tournaments. 

He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Wooster before getting a Master of Science in Allied Health in Exercise Science and Health Science from Otterbein.
