Quakers Double Up Bishops In Sweep, On Four-Game Win Streak

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) The Quakers go on their second four-game winning streak, their longest of the season, with another sweep, this time of the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops, run-ruling in game one 8-0 and taking game two 5-1.

Judaea Wilson went 4-7 through both games with two doubles, two runs, three RBIs, a walk, and three stolen bases.

GAME ONE

Game one started with an enormous six-run second inning. The scoring started with Rachel Berry lining the first pitch past the second baseman, driving in Maddie Starnes from second and setting up runners at the corners.

Four pitches later, Addysen Stevens cranks the pitch to the left field fence, clearing the bases and setting her up on second base for the 3-0 lead.

Stevens would find her way home on a bad throw on a Jocelyn Franz bunt from third to first.

This Ohio Wesleyan error would prove problematic with Franz's speed as the ball finds its way deep into right field foul territory. Franz legs out a four-base error to score and make the game 5-0.

Three batters later, with a full count and two outs, Haley Johnson puts one in between third and short to drive in Wilson from second for a 6-0 lead.

The Quakers continued to hit Bishop pitching, but left the bases loaded in the second after scoring six runs.

Wilson would end the game with a double to the left field gap in the bottom of the fifth, bringing home Franz and Berry for the run-rule 8-0 win.

Johnson would go 2-3 with an RBI, and a stolen base.

Makenzie O'Neil pitched her best game of the year for her fourth win, facing 18 batters over a five-inning shutout, only yielding three hits. O'Neil averaged 13 pitches an inning and just under four pitches per batter.

GAME TWO

Game two started fast with Ohio Wesleyan jumping first on the board in the top of the first, off starter Belle Baughman.

The Quakers would strike back, with Johnson shooting the first pitch up the middle, scoring Wilson from second.

Wilmington would break the game open in the fourth. Staring two outs and the bases loaded, Franz pops one into short left field. When the ball lands, it skips to the side and drifts down the left field line, about 40 feet from where it landed.

That skip turned a Franz single into a double, and instead of one RBI, the bases were cleared.

Three pitches later, Wilson poked a single through the middle, scoring Franz from second for the 5-1 lead.

Baughman went one inning in the start, giving up four hits and a run with two walks and one strikeout.

Gracey Dearmon gets her second win of the season, pitching a shutout over six innings, only giving up three hits and striking out four.

Franz went 2-4 with three RBIs, a double, and one run scored.

WHAT'S UP NEXT

The Quakers travel to Cleveland to face the John Carroll Blue Streaks in a doubleheader on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
