(BEREA, Ohio) The visiting Wilmington Quakers jump first on the host Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets for early leads in both doubleheader games. However, in both games, the Yellow Jackets come storming back for 14-6 and 7-3 wins, respectively.
GAME ONE
The Quakers jump out to a quick two-run lead in the top of the first compliments of a
Judaea Wilson single to right, scoring
Kori Cornett.
Then moments later,
Jocelyn Franz stole home on a double steal.
In the bottom of the first, the Yellow Jackets tied the game on a Birdie Bricker double to center, scoring Gillian Ryser and Sam Peterkoski.
Wilson hit a double to the left-center gap two innings later, scoring Franz.
But the Quakers would yield a big inning to the Yellow Jackets in the bottom of the third.
Nine Yellow Jackets would cross the plate against starter
Makenzie O'Neil and
Laney Starbuck to build an 11-3 lead.
The Quakers would strike again in the fourth and fifth innings to close the gap.
In the fourth,
Ashley Jo Hardesty hit in CiCi Harding on a sacrifice fly to right.
In the fifth, Wilson doubled to left center, scoring Franz for the third time on the day, and Wilson would come on a
Samantha Schwab groundout to third.
Wilson would go 3-for-3 with one run scored, three RBIs, and two doubles.
O'Neil would go two innings, giving up six runs off seven hits and a walk.
Starbuck would go 1.1 innings, giving up eight runs off six hits and a walk.
Audrey Patel pitched 0.2 innings, giving up two hits.
Marisa Hall went five innings for the win, with six runs off seven hits and a walk.
GAME TWO
Game two started the same way as game one, with the Quakers getting the first two runs.
The first run came in the second inning from a
Haley Johnson double to left field gap, scoring Schwab.
Then, Hardesty singled to the right-field gap, scoring Johnson.
Baldwin Wallace scored their first run in the bottom of the third when Maddie Lester singled to left, scoring Peterkoski.
Hardesty hit a sacrifice fly to right, scoring
Alasandra Spears for a 3-1 lead.
The Yellow Jackets tied the game in the fourth on a Peterkoski double down the left field line, scoring Mia Maddamma and Lexy Coggins.
Then, Lucia Wolford would bring in Sabrina Burke with a single through the left side for a 4-3 lead.
Lester would bring in Wolford and Peterkoski with a single to center field.
The Yellow Jackets would end the scoring in the fifth with Steph Mraz scoring off an error.
Gracey Dearmon went 3.1 innings, giving up six runs, off 11 hits.
Belle Baughman went 2.2 innings of relief, giving up one run, one hit, and two walks.
Haley Johnson went 2-4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.
