Quakers Drop Midweek Contest to Wittenberg University in Home Opener

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College baseball team lost their home opener at Tewksbury-Delaney Field Tuesday afternoon to the Wittenberg University Tigers, 17-3. Wilmington falls to 5-5 overall this season and will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 P.M.

The Quakers found themselves down early, 3-0 before cutting it to 3-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it a one run game. It began with a pair of singles from J.C. Calhoun and Avery Battle, before the pair advanced to second and third on a throwing error from the Tigers. A wild pitch scored Calhoun before an RBI single to right field from Dominic Depa brought in the other run for Wilmington.

Depa tripled into right center field to begin the bottom of the sixth inning before Max Gildea singled him in with a line drive over the second basemen's head for the Quakers final run of the game.
