Walker Goes for 20, Keeps it Close with Capital, Fall 68-62

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - Ky Walker scores 20 points for the host Wilmington College Quakers as they found themselves falling behind twice to the Capital University Comets and kept it close but lost in the final minutes 68-62 on Wednesday.

Despite finding themselves down 16 at the 7:36 mark of the third, the Quakers went on a 19-3 run over the next five-plus minutes to tie the game at 45, and trailed entering the fourth by only 3 points.

Capital went on a 7-0 run to open the fourth and grabbed a 10 point lead. After trading some baskets, the Quakers went on a 12-2 run entering the final minute with all points scored by Walker, hitting all five shots, including two three-pointers.

The Comets ended up closing the game out with a 6-2 run, getting a quick layup from Samaree Perkins, following a Walker 3-pointer with 1:07 left, and desperation fouling by the Quakers to keep them in the game.

Walker scored 20 points while nabbing five rebounds. Alaiya Meaux tallied seven rebounds and five assists to lead the Quakers. Cassidy Lovett scored 12 points and grabbed two steals.

Capital saw Samaree Perkins tally a double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Bri O'Connor also went for 20 points for the Comets.

Wilmington dominated the game in the key, outscoring the Comets 34-22, and outscored Capital 12-11 in points off turnovers. Both teams scored 10 second-chance points and seven points from bench players.

The Quakers will be home for their final game, welcoming in Heidelberg University for a 1:00 p.m. tip off on Senior Day.
