Quakers Celebrate Senior Day, Send Walker and Lovett out with an 86-49 Win over Heidelberg

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) The host Wilmington Quakers celebrated Senior Day, recognizing Ky Walker in her final game as a Quaker with a huge 86-49 win over the Heidelberg Student Princes on Saturday in Wilmington.

In her final game, Walker punctuated her career with a 19 point performance going 8-13 from the field.

Walker was one of four Quakers in double figures in points; Stephanie Altstaetter scored 16, and Alaiya Meaux and Gabby Russell each scored 14 points.

The Quakers and Student Princes each traded the lead in the early stages of the game. Wilmington went on a small 7-0 run, capped by 5 Altstaetter points to give them a 9-3 lead halfway through the first, giving Wilmington breathing room.

An early Heidelberg run drew them close but a big Wilmington 10-2 run late in the first gave the Quakers a 9 point lead in the waning minutes of the first.

The Student Princes went on another run to draw close to the Quakers again, but Wilmington held them off for a 22-19 first quarter lead.

And the floodgates opened for the Quakers in the middle quarters, winning the second quarter by 18 and the third by 15 to build a substantial 45-24 halftime lead and eventually an insurmountable 73-37 third quarter lead.

Graduate Student Cassidy Lovett once again showed why she is the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, nabbing four steals, just one behind her season high, ending this season with 59 steals, second this season in the conference and 235 in her career, for second at Wilmington.

But the two players bidding farewell to playing at Wilmington, Lovett walked off the court for her final time just before the five minute mark in the fourth and Walker walked off the court for the final time about twenty seconds later.
