Men's Basketball Shoots Well in Loss at Capital Wednesday Night

(BEXLEY, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team played a solid second half but couldn't complete a comeback after trailing by 13 points at halftime in an 101-86 loss at Capital University Wednesday night. Wilmington found themselves as close as six points in the second half before falling back behind in the eventual defeat.

The Quakers found themselves with an early 9-8 lead in the first half, before the Comets went on a 21-7 run to grab a 29-16 advantage with 9:46 remaining in the half. Capital went into the locker room with a 52-39 lead.

The Quakers trailed 61-46 early in the second half, but an 11-2 rally cut the lead to six at 63-57. Ben Golan had five points during this run. This was as close as Wilmington would get in their 101-86 defeat.

Notables
  • Obed Achirem and Matt DeBrosse both had season highs of 18 points in the game. This is Achirem's fifth straight game in double figures and 16th game overall. DeBrosse now has two games with 15 or more points this season.
  • Domenic Farley scored 15 points, his ninth game in double digits this season.
  • Carson Miles tied for the game high with six rebounds.
  • Farley had a team high six assists.
  • Ben Golan had a game high four blocks while Rashid Chisholm added two.
  • Three Quakers had one steal.
  • Wilmington shot 50% (26-52) from the field, their third game this season shooting 50% or better.
  • The Quakers shot a season best 56.5% (13-23) from beyond the arc, which also ties for the most threes they have made in a game this season (vs. Adrian on Dec. 4).
  • Their 21 made free throws ties for the most they have knocked down this season (at Muskingum on Jan. 30).
