Men's Basketball Celebrates Seven Seniors in Loss to Heidelberg

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team finished up their season Saturday afternoon in Hermann Court with a loss to the visiting Heidelberg University Student Princes, 86-63. Wilmington ends their season with an overall record of 5-20 and 3-15 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).

They celebrated seven seniors before the game in Obed Achirem, Rashid Chisholm, Bryce Bird, Christian Duniver, Gavin Heimlich, Nick Malagreca Jr., and Hunter Yakes.

The Quakers found themselves with an early 11-10 lead less than five minutes into the contest. Rashid Chisholm led the way during this stretch of play with seven points. Heidelberg then took the advantage with an 11-0 run for a 21-11 lead with 12:47 remaining in the first half.

A 12-4 answer by the Quakers cut the lead back down to two points at 25-23. Obed Achirem had five points to get Wilmington back into the game. However, the Student Princes ended the half on a 16-3 flurry for a 41-26 halftime lead. Heidelberg held a double-digit lead throughout the remainder of the game.

Notables
  • The duo of Obed Achirem and Rashid Chisholm ended their Quakers careers with 18 and 17 points, respectively. Achirem ended his season with six straight games of 11 or more points and 17 throughout the entire year. Chisholm had 18 games in double figures throughout the season.
  • Chisholm had a team high five rebounds.
  • Achirem and Domenic Farley led the team with three assists each.
  • Chisholm and Gavin Heimlich tied for the game high with one block a piece.
  • Achirem and Bryce Bird both had three steals to tie for the game high.
  • The Quakers knocked down 11 three pointers in the game, ending their season with seven games of 11 or more made three pointers.

What's Up Next
