(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - The Quakers defeated the Yellow Jackets 3-1 in the OAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon.
Wilmington's renowned offense pushed the Quakers past Baldwin Wallace. Less than a minute into the match, Alex Wilson had a shot, and the Quakers earned a corner kick. Attempts from Olivia Roye and MJ Little were off the mark. Wilmington broke through in the 9th minute when Jordan Snyder played a perfect through ball over the top to Little who took the volley and shot it past the keeper.
Baldwin Wallace countered, but the Wilmington backline and midfield controlled the first half. The Quakers continued to bombard the Yellow Jacket defense. Shots from Roye, Wilson, and Snyder kept pressuring Baldwin Wallace. Wilmington took eight shots in just 10 minutes during the 20th to 30th minute stretch.
The Quakers extended their lead in the 36th minute when Snyder ripped a shot from 20-plus yards away to beat the keeper. Wilmington ended the first half leading 2-0 while taking a whopping 16 shots, and Baldwin Wallace only had three attempts.
The Yellow Jackets were more poised and collected to start the second half. Both teams fought back and forth in the first 20 minutes but in the 67th minute, Baldwin Wallace scored to cut the lead to 2-1. Wilmington immediately countered offensively and returned to their first half form. Wilson and Snyder kept going back and forth but could not beat the goalkeeper.
In the 82nd minute, Olivia Roye cleared a ball perfectly over the top to Wilson who collected it and beat both the defender and goalie to extend the Quakers' lead to 3-1. Wilmington held onto the lead to defeat Baldwin Wallace in the OAC Quarterfinals.
