Altstaetter's Career Day Leads Quakers Past Eureka College 75-46 for the First Win of the Season

(HANOVER, Ind.) - Stephanie Altstaetter's monster double-double and the Quakers' shooting ability guided them to their first win of the 2025-2026 season against Eureka College 75-46. The victory is the first under Head Coach Shauna Watson in her first season at the helm.

Both teams struggled to start the game, shooting a combined 0-12 from the field. It took nearly two minutes for either side to score the first points of the game with a jump shot by Eureka College to take a 2-0 lead. Gabby Russell got the Quakers on the board, sinking both free throw attempts to tie the first quarter 2-2 with six and a half minutes left. A steal by Jazz Johnson led to a layup by Stephanie Altstaetter to put Wilmington ahead 4-2.

Two free throws from Johnson retook the lead for the Quakers. Johnson had another steal on the Red Devils' next possession and found Olivia Trusty for a fastbreak layup to get ahead 11-7. Wilmington held on to lead 11-9 heading into the second quarter. The Quakers shot 3-20 from the field in the first but went 5-9 from the line. Eureka shot 4-18 from the field, going 1-9 from three. Wilmington had six steals, with three from Johnson.

The Red Devils' shooting continued to struggle in the second quarter, going 1-7 in the first four minutes. Wilmington collected themselves to start, shooting 3-4 featuring another steal by Johnson who turned it into two points. A jumper by Ashton Harris gave the Quakers a 20-14 with five minutes left in the first half. Eureka cut the deficit to just five, until three consecutive layups put Wilmington back on top 28-17 with under a minute left. Wilmington capped the first half with an 11-0 run, featuring a three-pointer by Altstaetter to put the Quakers ahead 33-17 into halftime.

Wilmington shot an effective 71% from the field in the second quarter, outscoring Eureka 22-8. Stephanie Altstaetter recorded a double-double in just the first half, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Quakers' hot shooting kept them ahead of the Red Devils to open the third quarter. McCoin started the streak with a three out of the gate, as Russell and Altstaetter each added two to take a sizeable 47-25 lead. Wilmington closed the quarter on an 8-2 run to take a massive 55-27 advantage over the Red Devils.
