(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) – The Wilmington College women's cross country team competes at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional tomorrow morning at 11:00 A.M. at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
The lone Quaker with experience at the regional is junior
Hayden Setty, who competed in it during her freshman season in 2023. She finished the race in 179th with a time of 24:41.8. Setty has had a solid season for the Quakers to this point, finishing in the Top-71 three times, including a third place finish at the season opening Pat Thomas Invite. She ran her season best 6k at the OAC Championships a few weeks ago, finishing 70th at 25:33.8.
Freshman
Morgan Blair finished Second Team All-OAC at the OAC Championships, taking 20th at 23:39.1. This was her first time breaking 24 minutes this season, She also broke the 20-minute barrier in a 5k during the JennaStrong Fall Classic in mid-October. Blair continues to get better with each race and looks to make a strong impression during her first regional.
Junior
Avery Vance has been a solid performer during her first season in a Quakers uniform. She has been in the Top-100 twice, including a Top-10 finish at the Pat Thomas Invite. Her best 6k time came in 27:02.7 at the Otterbein Invite, while she ran a season best 5k of 21:50.0 at the JennaStrong Fall Classic.
Four freshmen in
Bryauna Bailey,
Addison Naus,
DaShae Washington, and
Heather Dutenhaver are also running the regional race for the first time.
Bailey had her best 5k and 6k over the last two races. She finished the OAC Championships 6k in 27:15.9, giving her an 88th place finish while crossing the line in a 23:27.7 5k at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic. She looks to continue her upward trajectory tomorrow.
Naus finished just behind Bailey in the OAC Championships with her season best 6k time of 27:22.6 giving her a 90th place finish. This 6k time took nearly two minutes off her previous best 6k this season.
Just like Bailey, Washington has run her best 5k and 6k during her last two races. At the OAC Championships, she was 93rd in a time of 28:17.9, which shaves just under two minutes off her previous best 6k this season. The JennaStrong Fall Classic saw her cross the line in 23:39.1 to best her first 5k of the season by well over two minutes.
Dutenhaver joins Bailey and Washington with her two best races coming in their last two competitions. She ran a 29:57.0 6k for a 100th place finish at the OAC Championships, taking nearly two minutes off her previous best 6k. She finished in 24:50.8 at the JennaStrong Fall Classic for a huge 5k personal best as she looks to continue to get better at the regionals race tomorrow.
