Quakers Clinch 3rd Seed with 1-1 Draw Against Marietta

(MARIETTA, Ohio) - The Quakers drew with Marietta 1-1 on the road Saturday afternoon. With the draw and other results, Wilmington earned a share of the regular season's Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championship for the first time since 2003. Wilmington finished tied with Capital and Otterbein with an OAC record of 4-2-2.

It was a relatively quiet first half on the road for Wilmington. Marietta had an early shot off target just two minutes into the match. Jordan Snyder had her own opportunity in the 4th minute, but her chance was off target too. The Quakers had three shots and two corner kicks within three minutes, with shots by MJ Little, Alex Wilson, and Snyder. Wilmington's offense continued to pressure the Pioneers' defense but could not break through.

Marietta's last shot of the first half came in the 9th minute. The Quaker attack remained relentless as Wilson had two chances on net in the final minutes, but the half closed 0-0. Wilmington took nine shots in the first half, and Marietta only had three.

Wilmington looked to remain in control offensively as Wilson had her shot saved, and Little's rebound was just off target to open the second half. The Quakers broke through in the 69th minute as Snyder found the back of the net to put Wilmington ahead 1-0. Marietta responded just nine eight minutes later as the Pioneers equalized in the 78th minute. The Pioneers' offense got into a rhythm late, forcing goalkeeper Emma Storck to make a save in the 83rd minute. Marietta had back-to-back corner kicks in the 90th minute but could not take the lead as the match ended 1-1.
