Volleyball Drops Competitive OAC Home Opener with Heidelberg

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - The Wilmington College volleyball team lost their home-opening Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) match Saturday afternoon to the visiting Heidelberg University Student Princes, 3-0.

The first set was all Heidelberg, winning it 25-16, before Wilmington gave the Student Princes all they could handle over the final two games. The Quakers used four kills from freshman Jobey Hattan to take a 14-11 lead in set two, before a 13-4 Heidelberg rally was too much for Wilmington to overcome in the 25-20 loss.

The final set saw the Quakers trail 13-7, before a 13-6 run led by a trio of kills from senior Sarah Brown and junior Emelia Mohler gave the Quakers a 20-19 advantage. This lead was the last they would have though as Heidelberg ended the match on a 6-0 run for a 25-20 third set victory.

Notables
  • Sarah Brown hit a season-best .391 with 11 kills on 23 swings for her third match this season with double-digit kills.
  • Emelia Mohler had 10 kills, giving her four straight matches with double-digit kills and eight this year.
  • Freshman Emma Specht had 15 assists and 11 digs for her third double-double of the season.
  • Senior Kyra Frasier had 14 assists and 12 digs for her fourth double-double this year.
  • Junior Logan McQuillin led the team with 17 digs.
