(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's swimming team had their home opener tonight against the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual action. They dropped the meet, 163-58, but had several standout races.
Senior
Makenna Garn led the way for Wilmington with a pair of second place finishes in sprint freestyle events. She started in the 100 SC Meter Free with a time of 1:05.60 before just missing out on a win in the 50 SC Meter Free, touching the wall in 29.80 seconds. Catherine Greenlee of Ohio Northern finished in 29.15 seconds.
Junior
Gabby Kuetemeyer had a second place and third finish during the dual. She took second in the 50 SC Meter Breaststroke in a time of 40.39 seconds while a time of 1:20.19 gave her third place in the 100 SC Meter IM.
Senior
Sydney Overmyer and junior
Sophia Mignery both earned second place finishes. Overmyer was second in the 400 SC Meter Freestyle in 5:29.11, while Mignery touched the wall in 1:25.69 during the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke for second place.
Seniors
Brynn Bishop and
Abbi Whitesell, along with junior
Alaina Reynek all had third place individual finishes. Bishop took third in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle in 2:44.97. Whitesell touched the wall in 1:15.78 during the 100 SC Meter Free, while Reynek finished with a time of 1:26.34 in the 100 SC Meter Fly.

Wilmington hosts Transylvania University and Wittenberg University in a tri-meet dual next Saturday, November 1st at 1:00 P.M. in the Wilmington Natatorium.
