(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - The Quakers fell to the Yellow Jackets in three sets at home on Saturday afternoon.
Wilmington took an early 5-3 lead in the first set until Baldwin Wallace jumped ahead 10-6. The Quakers clawed back to the score 15-15 after two straight kills by Sarah Brown. The Yellow Jackets pulled ahead taking a 20-15 lead. Kills by Brown and Brinlee Preston cut the deficit to 20-17. Baldwin Wallace closed out the first set winning 25-20.
The Yellow Jackets stormed ahead quickly in the second set. They led 9-4 until going on an 11-3 run to lead 20-7 over Wilmington. The Quakers could not slow down the Baldwin Wallace offense as they took the second set 25-10 over Wilmington.
The Quakers were able to keep the third set close despite never taking the lead. Trailing by three, a kill by Aubrey Clark and a block by Magee Fain and Lydia Bridenbaugh put the Quakers within one losing 10-9. The Yellow Jackets were able to push ahead 21-15 until Wilmington scored three straight points including one from a kill by Paige Shouse. Down 21-18, the Quakers pulled within two, but Baldwin Wallace took the final set 25-20 and swept the match.
