(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - Delaney Benjamin and Jordan Snyder's brace helped secure Wilmington's 3-1 victory over Baldwin Wallace.
The Yellow Jackets opened the first half on the offensive. Baldwin Wallace drew two corner kicks in the first five minutes and tested Emma Storck, but their shots were off target. Wilmington was able to mount a counterattack as Jordan Snyder and MJ Little both tested the Yellow Jackets keeper. Alex Wilson had a chance too but Wilmington was unable to score.
Baldwin Wallace kept pressuring Storck and the Quakers' back line but could not break through. In the 40th minute, Delaney Benjamin received a great pass from Wilson and Benjamin took a step and shot over the keeper to give Wilmington a 1-0 lead. The first half closed out with the Quakers leading 1-0 thanks to Benjamin's first goal of the year. The Yellow Jackets had eight first half shots and the Quakers had nine.
The Quakers came out in control to start the second half. Wilmington controlled the ball better than in the first half and defensively was more secure. The attack also improved and had two corner kicks in a span of two minutes compared to none in the first half. In the 73rd minute Benjamin played a great combination with Jordan Snyder who beat multiple defenders and fired a rocket into the top of the net. Snyder's goal put Wilmington up 2-0 until the Yellow Jackets scored only a minute later as Storck was forced to come out and play the ball.
Up 2-1, the Quakers regained their composure and returned to the attack. In the 79th minute, Jordan Snyder took a rebound and off a volley ripped another strike into the back of the net putting the Quakers up 3-1. Wilmington closed out the rest of the half to secure the 3-1 victory over Baldwin Wallace.
