(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's soccer team suffered their first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) defeat of the season tonight to the visiting Otterbein University Cardinals, 3-1.
The first half ended in a 0-0 tie despite a few good looks from Quakers sophomore
Parker Burke, including a ball off the post. The second half was kicked off by an Otterbein penalty kick goal in the 51st minute that put the Quakers in a 1-0 hole.
Burke immediately answered for Wilmington with what may have been the goal of the season. In the 52nd minute, Wilmington sent a ball into the box off the head of an Otterbein defender. Burke then got the ball in midair with his foot and sent a rocket right off the top of the crossbar and into the back of the net for a 1-1 tie.
The Cardinals answered with goals in the 67th and 75th minutes for a 3-1 lead. Wilmington had a few solid looks down the stretch but couldn't find the net again in the loss.
