(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - A five goal second half propels Wilmington to their third straight victory in a 5-3 win over Mount Union.
Wilmington came out on the offensive to start the first half. The Quakers' barrage of shots were off target, but they continued to pepper the Purple Raiders' goalkeeper. In the 25th minute Mount Union broke through as Alex Depperschmidt beat his man and scored past Judah Hanks.
The teams remained competitive, but Wilmington finished the hard-fought half trailing 1-0.
The Quakers wasted no time on the attack to start the second half. In the 50th minute Eli Eyrich scored his first goal of the night to tie the game 1-1. Just 12 minutes later Eyrich beat secured his brace on an assist by Parker Burke to give Wilmington their first lead up 2-1. Wilmington's offensive raid continued.
Kaden Young delivered a perfect ball from a set piece in the 67th minute and Brayden Spencer headed it past the Mount Union keeper pushing the Quakers' lead to 3-1. Just two minutes later, the Purple Raiders scored a penalty kick, trailing 3-2.
Logan Kent responded right away. In the 71st minute Noah Lee played another great ball from a corner kick, and Kent found the back of the net. Leading 4-2, Parker Burke scored from another Noah Lee pass to put the Quakers up 5-2. Mount Union scored in the 82nd minute but Wilmington closed out the game 5-3 to win their third straight game.
