(DELAWARE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's soccer team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University Wednesday night to take on the Battling Bishops, drawing their match 1-1. Both teams scored within the first 10 minutes of play and didn't find the net again for the rest of the contest.
Wilmington's record is now 7-2-2 as they head into their first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) game of the season Saturday evening on the road.
Ohio Wesleyan scored in the first minute of the game for a 1-0 lead. The ninth minute saw the Quakers tie it at 1-1. After a good defensive stand,
Parker Burke found a streaking
Jordan Domoe right up the middle of the field. Domoe worked around the keeper to his left and beat a few more Bishops defenders before finding the back of the net.
After the goal, Wilmington put three more shots on goal in the first half, coming from Burke,
James Comstock, and
Aidan Barnishin. The Quakers outshot Ohio Wesleyan in the first half, 8-6.
Their only shot on goal in the second half came from
Tannar Beermann in the 66th minute, and while several other shots were taken in the final 24 minutes of play, this was the last shot on goal in the contest.
