(UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team lost to John Carroll University on the road Saturday afternoon, 164-49, in their final dual of the season before the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championships. They finish the dual portion of their season at 3-7 overall and 1-4 in the OAC.
Sondre Haugen led Wilmington with a pair of wins this afternoon in the 200 Yard Freestyle and 100 Yard Butterfly. He swam a 1:42.02 in the 200 Yard Freestyle to win by just over four seconds and snuck past John Carroll's Bryce Liddell in the 100 Yard Butterfly, touching the wall in 51.30 seconds to win by just over a second.
Garnering a pair of third place finishes was
Jo Pedersen. He swam the 50 Yard Freestyle in 22.04 seconds, just missing out on second behind Liddell's 22.00. In the 100 Yard Freestyle, Pedersen finished in 49.13 seconds for third place.
John Good,
Parker Basener, and
Austin Reed all had one third place finish on the day. Good's came in the 200 Yard Backstroke at 2:03.63. Basener took third in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:14.93 just behind Ian Hofmann of John Carroll's 2:14.76. Reed finished the 500 Yard Freestyle in 5:09.05 for third place.
The Quakers relay teams finished in third in the 200 Yard Medley Relay and second in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, respectively. To start the day, Pedersen,
Adam Moneypenny,
Ryan Washburn, and
Jake Stein finished third with a time of 1:47.40.
Ending the day, Good, Reed, Haugen, and Pedersen combined for a time of 1:26.27 in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, with John Carroll winning at 1:25.79. Pedersen swam the fastest lap at 21.00 seconds.
