Men's Basketball Earns Huge Win Over Marietta in Hermann Court Saturday Afternoon

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team picked up a huge win Saturday afternoon in Hermann Court against the Marietta College Pioneers, 74-67. The Quakers thwarted off several Pioneers comeback attempts and earned their first win over Marietta since Jan. 7, 2023. This pushes the Quakers overall record to 4-13 and 2-8 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).

Wilmington jumped out to a 10-0 lead over the Pioneers and held them off the board until the 15:40 mark in the first half. This flurry from Wilmington was led by three points from Domenic Farley and Rashid Chisholm.

Their lead held strong until Marietta fought back and tied the game at 31-31 with 1:11 remaining in the first half of play. The Quakers used a pair of Farley free throws to take a one point 33-32 lead going into the locker room.

The Pioneers briefly held a 34-33 lead early in the second half before a 28-15 Quakers run gave them a comfortable 61-49 advantage with just over nine minutes remaining in the game. The Pioneers came back with a 17-6 run of their own to cut the lead to one at 67-66 with 2:40 to play. A huge Chisholm three pointer pushed the lead back to four at 70-66 and the Quakers lead would hold steady the rest of the way for a 74-67 triumph.
