(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - Staring down a 12-point deficit entering the final 10 minutes, the Wilmington Quakers pulled through with a 59-56 win over the visiting Otterbein Cardinals Wednesday night inside Hermann Court. This win was led by an eight-point fourth quarter from
Stephanie Altstaetter and
Sierra McCoin going 6-7 from the charity stripe in a chaotic final three seconds.
Altstaetter's enormous fourth quarter hallmarks a 13-point game, trailing only
Cassidy Lovett with 16 points for the Quakers.
Ky Walker scored 10 points as well for Wilmington, while McCoin added nine points.
Walker tallied three steals for the Quakers;
Olivia Trusty and Walker led the Quakers with four rebounds a piece.
Wilmington dominated in the paint, outscoring the Cardinals 34-18.
How The Game Ended
McCoin ended up at the line for seven free throws following a Kyla Irby foul on an attempted three, trailing 56-53, that immediately went to replay.
After reviewing the play, McCoin was granted the three free throws, and before she could take them, Otterbein was given a technical foul. This gave the Quakers an additional two free throws and possession of the ball.
McCoin made two of three from the Irby personal, cutting the lead to 56-55.
Head coach
Sydney Moss stuck with the hot hand of McCoin, overall the team's second-best free throw shooter with more than five attempts, for the two technical free throws.
McCoin hit both of them, giving the Quakers the 57-56 lead. Irby fouled McCoin again just after the inbound play, leading to McCoin hitting both to end the game at 59-56.

The Quakers will be at home on Saturday afternoon, welcoming the Marietta College Pioneers for a tip-off at 2:00 p.m.
