(TIFFIN, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team lost a heartbreaker Saturday afternoon to the Heidelberg University Student Princes on the road. The Quakers trailed by 15 points at halftime and stormed all the way back to tie the game up at 69-69 with 41 seconds remaining. However, a Student Princes bucket and blocked shot on the defensive end gave them the 71-69 victory. Wilmington is back on the road Wednesday night at Otterbein University.
The Student Princes dominated the first half and led by as many as 19 points, taking a 43-28 lead into the locker room. The Quakers quickly began to chip away at the lead in the second half. They trailed by 12 at 48-36 with 13:12 to play before a 10-0 run cut the lead to just two points at 48-46.
Ben Golan led the way during the flurry with four points while
Zach McGuirt and
Carson Miles both knocked down a three pointer.
Heidelberg pushed the lead back out to nine with 4:22 remaining in the contest but the Quakers never gave up. They manufactured a 12-3 run to tie the game at 69-69.
Rashid Chisholm had five points to lead the charge, while
Bryce Bird knocked down the huge three pointer to tie the game with under a minute left. Unfortunately for Wilmington, the Student Princes got a late layup and came away with a 71-69 win.

- Obed Achirem added 13 points, giving him nine games with 12 or more points during this season.
- Achirem and Domenic Farley tied for the team high with six rebounds.

- The Quakers outshot the Student Princes 47.5% (28-59) to 43.6% (24-55) from the field and from beyond the arc at 37.5 % (6-16) to 27.3% (3-11).
- Wilmington had more second chance points (15-11) than Heidelberg and the two teams tied with 40 points in the paint and 30 bench points.
