(BEXLEY, Ohio) - Staring down a Capital University Comets (11-3, 5-2 OAC) six-point lead with less than three minutes to go, the Wilmington College Quakers (4-10, 1-6 OAC) stormed back with an 8-2 run, propelled by three points each from
Sierra McCoin and
Cassidy Lovett and two points by
Olivia Trusty, to force overtime at the Capital Center in Bexley, but Capital scored nine of the first 11 points in OT to win 78-74.
Lovett scored 22 points, sparked by a huge 15-point second half, four steals and three assists. McCoin scored 11 points and
Stephanie Altstaetter scored 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
Capital saw Bri O'Connor and Samaree Perkins each go for 16 points and Laney Murphy and Jenna Horsley went for 15 each.
Wilmington outscored Capital on points from turnovers (19-14), points in the paint (40-20) and fast break points (14-4) and tied in bench points (23-23).
The Quakers will travel to Tiffin to play Heidelberg University in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action Saturday afternoon. Tip off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
