(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's swimming team finished 1-1 in their return to the pool Saturday afternoon in a tri-dual match with Heidelberg University and Anderson University (Ind.). They beat Heidelberg, 113-87 and lost to Anderson, 106-96. The Quakers are 3-5 overall in duals this season and 1-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).
A pair of Quakers in
Gabby Kuetemeyer and
Makenna Garn had individual wins this afternoon. Kuetemeyer won the 200 SC Meter IM, out touching Anderson's Ella Rector in 2:48.25 to Rector's 2:48.62. She also finished fourth in the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:27.65. Garn won the 100 SC Meter Freestyle by almost nine seconds, touching the wall in 1:05.76. Her teammates
Paige Braley (1:14.09) and
Adisson Houdeshell (1:14.15) finished second and third, respectively.
Garn was also a part of two winning relay teams. The 200 SC Meter Medley Relay consisted of
Sydney Overmyer, Garn,
Brenna Beadle, and Houdeshell. They finished in 2:14.92, just edging out Anderson at 2:15.83. The 200 SC Meter Freestyle Relay team consisted of Garn, Overmyer, Houdeshell, and Beadle, who won in 2:02.29.
Overmyer finished second in her lone individual event, the 400 SC Meter Freestyle, where she swam a time of 5:18.03. Along with being on the two winning relay teams, Beadle swam the 50 SC Meter Freestyle, finishing third at 30.18 seconds, while first and second finished in 29.18 and 29.98 seconds.
Sophia Mignery finished third in the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:26.65 and was also fourth in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle at 2:39.61.
