Men's Swimming Dominates in Tri-Dual Wins Over Heidelberg and Anderson (IN)

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team went undefeated in their duals Saturday afternoon at the Wilmington Natatorium, defeating Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) foe Heidelberg University, 130-43 and Anderson University (Ind.), 102-81. The Quakers are now 3-5 in dual action this season and 1-2 in the OAC.

Both Sondre Haugen and John Good won a pair of individual events this afternoon for Wilmington, while also helping out in the relays. Haugen won the 200 SC Meter Freestyle by nearly 10 seconds as he was the only competitor to finish under two minutes at 1:57.19. He ended his day with a win in the 400 SC Meter Freestyle at 4:18.96, nearly winning by five seconds. He swam the third leg of the Quakers 200 SC Meter Medley Relay in 25.71 along with Good, Parker Basener, and Jo Pedersen, as they won the event with a time of 1:48.77.

Good won the 50 SC Meter Freestyle in 24.86, besting Nic Doepner of Anderson by just under two seconds. He followed this with a dominant win in the 100 SC Meter Backstroke, where he won at 1:01.61 and beat Anderson's Ben Hall by over six seconds.

Pedersen won the 100 SC Meter Freestyle in 54.75, just edging out Anderson's Noah Singleton by exactly one second. He was the anchor leg on the Quakers 200 SC Meter Freestyle Relay, swimming a time of 23.44, as the Quakers barely lost to Anderson with a time of 1:46.14 to their 1:46.12. This team consisted of Austin Reed, Ryan Washburn, Adam Moneypenny, and Pedersen.

Basener started his individual day with a second-place finish in the 100 SC Meter Butterfly, finishing in 1:04.53 before winning the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke in 1:10.53. He beat Heidelberg's Ian Bain in the event by just over a second.

Along with being on the freestyle relay team, Reed competed in two individual events. He was second in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle to teammate Sondre Haugen, finishing in 2:06.85. He finished third in the 100 SC Meter Freestyle, touching the wall in 56.68 seconds. Moneypenny had a pair of third place finishes in the 200 SC Meter IM at 2:32.41 and the 100 SC Meter Backstroke at 1:08.49.
