(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) – The Wilmington College women's soccer team remains undefeated after tonight's 1-1 draw against the Spalding University Golden Eagles on the road.
The first half ended in a scoreless tie even though the Quakers outshot the Spalding 4-3. The Wilmington offense applied consistent pressure throughout the opening half earning four corner kicks.
For the second time in as many games, junior Alex Wilson scored for the Quakers. Wilson took a pass and beat a few defenders to the net, where she snuck the ball past the keeper for the 1-0 lead in the 59th minute.
Wilmington held the lead until the final few minutes of the match when Baylee Smith scored for the Golden Eagles off an assist by Jaelyn Dodson in the 83rd minute. With only a few minutes remaining in the match after the goal, Wilmington was unable to break the tie and regulation ended in a 1-1 tie.
Notables
- Alex Wilson and MJ Little combined to take 11 of the Quakers 17 shots, and had all five of their shots on goal.
- The other Quaker with multiple shots taken was Jordan Snyder with three.
- Heidi Toner and Emma Storck each played a half in goal for the Quakers, combining to make three saves.
