(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - The Wilmington College women's volleyball team won their second match in a row tonight, sweeping the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers, 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-22).
Josie Crabtree tallied 10 kills and 18 digs in the match, whileÂ
Baileigh Rieder had nine kills and three blocks for 12 points.
Andie Dolven continued building her program record with another 30 assists, and netted three service aces.
Paige Shouse had six kills, one of seven Quakers with kills in the match.
The first set finished 25-23 with no team gaining more than a three-point advantage at any point during the set. The Quakers closed out the match with three massive points coming out of their final timeout trailing 23-22. The first point came from a
Sarah Brown and Rieder block, followed by two service aces by
Corissa Oeder. The Quakers took their first substantial lead on the set-clinching Oeder ace since it was 15-13, where there was a
Brinlee Preston kill at 14-12 and the teams traded service errors.
The second set saw the Quakers blaze the Trailblazers 25-14. Ohio Christian made it a set early on though. The Trailblazers netted the first two points off blocks of Quaker attacks. Rieder finally broke through a staunch defense to get the Quakers on the board and the service, handing it off to Dolven. Following Dolven's service rally, where she tallied three aces, the Quakers got out to a 6-2 lead, before turning the serve over to Ohio Christian. The Trailblazers then scored seven of the next 10 points to even the score at 9-9. An attack error gave the serve to
Logan McQuillin, where she earned an ace to make the score 12-9, after a second consecutive Trailblazer attack error. Wilmington continued to build a systematic lead netting consecutive points, while holding Ohio Christian to one point per rotation, finally concluding with a
Trinity VanDusen service ace, followed by a Shouse kill to close it at 25-14.
The third set was much like the first set, with no team gaining more than a two-point lead, until the final Rieder kill to close the match at 25-22. Early in the set, serves weren't getting over, but when they were, kills followed. Of the first nine points, three were earned via the service error, and the other six were earned by kills, two by Ohio Christian's Kennedy Bowling, and four for the Quakers, compliments of Brown,
Kieran Yarkosky and twice by Preston. During the final set, 15 of the Quakers 25 points came by way of the kill.
