(TERRE HAUTE, Ind.) -Â Following a 6-3 win over Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) member Mount St. Joseph University on Friday night, the Quakers made a quick turnaround on Sunday to face off against the HCAC's defending champions in the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers, where the Quakers leave with a 1-1 draw.
With a continuous first-half attack, Rose-Hulman's goalie, John Biederstedt, faced six shots on goal, saving the first five until the final minute of the first half when
Jose Ruiz put a shot in over Biederstedt's head from about a hundred feet out, following a
Noah Lee steal at midfield, marking Ruiz's first collegiate goal.
However, at the opposite end of the field,
Oliver Metz faced zero shots on goal through three-quarters of the game, as a relentless back line play by Wilmington nullified Rose-Hulman's attack.
Metz saw his first shot on goal in the 64th minute, and it was not long until Rose-Hulman's Eli Miller lobbed a shot in from the left corner of the penalty area over Metz and a handful of defenders. Metz saw five shots on goal throughout the game, making four saves.
Notables
- Jose Ruiz had his first collegiate goal on his only shot, coming off the bench.
- Parker Burke and Randy Harris each had two shots on goal.
- Noah Lee had the lone assist.
