(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's basketball team used an 18-7 first quarter lead and never looked back in a 69-62 win over the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders Saturday afternoon in Hermann Court. Wilmington led by as many as 16 points in the second quarter, but an 18-3 run by Mount Union made it a one-point game at 29-28 with 2:26 left in the half. A late 9-2 flurry from the Quakers gave them some breathing room at 38-30. Freshman
Sierra McCoin had five points during this final push.
An 8-0 run to start the third quarter gave the Quakers a 16-point lead once again at 46-30, but the Purple Raiders wouldn't go down without swinging. After trailing by as many as 19 points at 58-39 in the fourth quarter, they generated an 18-4 run to cut the lead down to five at 62-57 with 2:37 remaining in the game.
