(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - Saturday's contest between Marietta College and Wilmington College was to decide the final spot in the upcoming Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) tournament. The Quakers had a 'win and you're in' scenario and performed beautifully. In what could have been a tense afternoon the Quakers played decisively and aggressively and jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead.
Grace Kingery got the scoring started in the 37th minute off an assist by
Jada Pohlen. Kingery came in like a rocket to head in a cross from Pohlen.
With only 11 seconds to go in the first half,
Alex Wilson found
Gracie King for Wilmington's second goal of the afternoon. King sent in a ball from about 25 yards out that floated just over the keeper's head into the back of the net.
MJ Little scored early in the second half giving Wilmington a 3-0 lead. Wilson had the ball and the Pioneers keeper came out of the net to try and cut her off. In doing so, the ball was ricocheted to Little, who took care of the rest and scored the goal.
Goalkeeper
Emma Storck had seven saves on the day as Wilmington cruised to a 3-0 victory and secured it's place in the OAC tournament.
